Why a Rainy Day Might Be the BEST Day to Go Rafting
Think back to being a kid.
Remember running outside during a summer rainstorm? Splashing through puddles, getting soaked, laughing harder because you weren’t trying to stay dry?
That’s exactly what rafting in the rain feels like — only bigger, louder, and way more exhilarating.

At White Water Adventurers, our rafting trips run rain or shine, and some of the most memorable trips happen when the skies open up a little. Once you hit the river, you’re already getting wet anyway. Rain just turns the adventure level up another notch.
The mist rising off the water.
The sound of the rapids echoing through the gorge.
The adrenaline rush of charging through whitewater while the rain falls around you.
It’s the kind of experience people talk about long after vacation is over.
“But What About Storms?”
We do not cancel trips for rainy weather, and most storms in the area are short-lived summer systems that move through quickly.
If severe weather rolls in before launch, we may briefly delay the trip until conditions clear. But once your rafting trip is underway, the adventure continues rain or shine.
In many cases, guests come back saying the rain made the trip even more exciting.
What to Wear on a Rainy Rafting Day
The best approach? Embrace it.
Wear quick-dry clothing, secure footwear, and leave anything you don’t want wet behind. The river doesn’t care what the forecast says — everybody gets splashed on the rapids.
Rain just means you get to fully commit to the experience.

Want Extra Flexibility? Consider Trip Protection
For added peace of mind, trip protection can be added during checkout for 10% of your rafting trip total.
With trip protection, you may reschedule your trip one time or cancel up to 48 hours before your trip for a full refund, minus the trip protection cost and booking fee.
A few important things to know:
- Trip protection must be purchased during checkout and cannot be added later
- It does not apply to non-refundable tickets
- It does not cover cancellations within 48 hours of the trip
- It does not cover late arrivals, no-shows, or cancellations due to inclement weather
If you’re concerned about weather conditions before traveling, we always recommend keeping an eye on the forecast ahead of your trip.
But if a little rain shows up?
That might just turn into the best rafting day you’ve ever had.
